Northamptonshire-based contractor Kier Marriott has completed the external structure of The Exchange, the new enterprise hub at Colworth Science Park. A topping-out ceremony was held to mark the occasion, at which Kier Marriott’s managing director John Henke presented Goodman’s construction director Mike Lee with a crystal plaque.

The building is being constructed with a £13.5m investment from research and business space provider Goodman and Unilever, the global consumer goods company. The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) has also invested in the project.

Lee said: “The project represents a significant investment by Goodman, Unilever and EEDA. We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone and I would like to thank our partners for sharing our vision and supporting this project.

"We are confident that The Exchange will act as a catalyst for economic development by attracting new businesses to Colworth and will lead to new job opportunities for the area.”

The Exchange will comprise 21,000 sq ft of dining, conference and meeting facilities for up to 200 people. It is expected to be completed early in 2011.
