Babywear business goes global
A Warwickshire-based baby clothing company is rapidly expanding into Europe and the Middle East. The 18-month old company, Lilly and Sid, is now expecting up to 40 per cent of its turnover to come from exports.
The Rugby-based company landed its first export deal with department store Brown Thomas in the Republic of Ireland a year ago.
Owner Imran Hassan said: "We are exporting across Europe, including Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Cyprus, as well as Kuwait and Korea, where earlier this year we were awarded the 'Kids in Fashion and Style Awards Asia 2010'.”
The company employs five staff in the UK and supplies its clothes and gifts to Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Fenwicks and John Lewis and more than 60 independent outlets across the country.
Lilly and Sid - named after Mr Hassan's children – received advice and support from the UK Trade and Investment about exporting its products.
The support programme included attendance at an export workshop, assistance in formulating an international trade strategy and funding towards implementing this strategy.
Lilly and Sid is now rapidly expanding its export drive across Europe and the Middle East and shortly into Canada.
