The president of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) visited Corby yesterday to witness the progress being made with the regeneration of the town. Ann Skippers, along with James Carpenter, chairman of the East Midlands RTPI, saw several of the town’s development projects including the Corby Cube civic centre, which is nearing completion.

The visit was hosted by Corby Borough Council, the North Northants Joint Planning Unit (NNJPU) and the North Northants Development Company (NNDC).

Throughout the day, Skippers met with councillors, planning officers and local developers and representatives from the Homes and Communities Agency.

Prior to her visit, Skippers said: “I’m genuinely excited about visiting Corby. The town has been through some hard times but has bounced back over the past few years and a large part of that can be attributed to the improved transport links and the investment that has been brought into the area. It will be great to see first hand some the improvements and learn more about what still needs to be done.”

She also visited sites such as the Corby train station and the Corby East Midlands International Swimming Pool which have recently been developed as part of the town’s ongoing regeneration.
