M&S shuts up shop across Lincolnshire
High street giant Marks and Spencer has confirmed it will close three of its Lincolnshire stores. Branches in Grantham, Skegness and Scunthorpe will close by January 2011, the company said.
The company’s store in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, will also close, Marks and Spencer said.
It is understood that about 110 members of staff will be affected by the closures.
Rob Davies, M&S head of region said: “We have consulted with our employee representatives, listening carefully to their views and suggestions, as well as those of the local community.
“Unfortunately, none of the proposed alternatives we received would have made the stores commercially viable and therefore, it was necessary for us to make this difficult decision.”
The company said that it would continue consultation with its employee representatives on the announcement would affect those working at the stores.
