iPhone helps propel Mobile Fun into profit
Birmingham-based Mobile Fun has returned to profit and posted sales of more than £7m. The internet retailer said sales of accessories for the iPhone and iPad helped lead to yearly profits before tax of £500,000. It made a £17,000 loss in 2009.
It reported a 15 per cent revenue increase from 2009 for the results which covered the year ending 31 March 2010.
Mobile Fun attributes its success to catering for the growing demand for mobile accessories for touch screen devices including the iPad, iPhone and Google Android-powered mobile phones.
It added that figures were also boosted by strong sales growth from the now profitable German MobileFun.de website, which opened in 2008 and now manages approximately 2,000 orders per month.
Anthony Cook, founder and chairman of Mobile Fun, said: “The year’s results bear testimony to the fact that Mobile Fun is entering a new phase of profitable growth. Our strong customer proposition and leading market position has enabled the management team to capitalise quickly on exciting technology led market opportunities to deliver a robust set of results."
