Birmingham-based law firm HBJ Gateley Wareing has signed a deal for new office premises in Manchester. The deal, one of the largest in Manchester this year, will secure office space for 200 staff following the firm’s recent takeover of rival Halliwells.

The firm will move from its current location at 3 Hardman Square to Ship Canal House on King Street. It is taking over 31,000 sq ft over four floors of Ship Canal House.

Senior office partner of HBJ Gateley Wareing in Manchester, Rod Waldie, said: "The building has recently been completely refurbished and HBJ Gateley Wareing will become the largest occupier. The space includes at third floor level the listed boardrooms which were originally used by The Ship Canal Company and which will now form a very impressive reception area and seminar room for HBJ Gateley Wareing."

HBJ Gateley Wareing has been operating from 3 Hardman Square since its move into the Manchester marketplace at the end of July. The firm now has seven UK offices, in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, London, Manchester and Nottingham as well as an office in Dubai.

HBJ Gateley Wareing senior partner, Michael Ward, said: "The move to a new office marks the dawn of a new era for HBJ Gateley Wareing in Manchester. We are all looking forward to the move to Ship Canal House which will help to establish the HBJ Gateley Wareing brand in the city and the North West."

King Sturge in Manchester advised HBJ Gateley Wareing on the office move. CBRE acted as joint agents.
