Marston's recruits Rowland
Marston’s, the brewer and pub operator based in Wolverhampton, has appointed Robin Rowland as non-executive director. Rowland will take up the position on 1 September.
He is currently chief executive of YO! Sushi, which he joined in 1999. Under his leadership, the restaurant chain grew from three London-based eateries to 63 conveyor-belt style restaurants worldwide.
Prior to this role, Rowland held senior positions at City Centre Restaurants and Scottish and Newcastle.
David Thompson, chairman of Marston's, said: "We are delighted to welcome Robin to Marston's. His extensive background and knowledge of the consumer sector will be an invaluable asset to the group going forward."
Marston’s operates 2,159 pubs across the country and employs around 12,000 people. For the 43 weeks to 31 July 2010, like-for-like sales at the company’s inns and taverns were up 1.7 per cent and wet sales had risen 1.3 per cent.
