Independent private equity house, Key Capital Partners (KCP), has appointed an investment manager to its Birmingham office. Richard Thomas joins the company from Grant Thornton’s Birmingham office.

Thomas will play a main role in deal origination, deal assessment and supporting the development of KCP’s portfolio companies.

The company said it employed Thomas “as it looks to make further investments in the region and capitalise on the improving economic prospects”.

Thomas moved to Grant Thornton’s corporate finance team after qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2005. There, he led a variety of buy and sell-side transactions across the West Midlands and beyond.

Owen Trotter, partner at Key Capital Partners in Birmingham, said of the appointment: “Richard is arriving at just the right time, we are seeing a marked increase in both the quantity and quality of deal opportunities. As West Midlands businesses emerge from the recession, we expect to be putting his skills to work right away.”

The Birmingham office of KCP was launched in September 2008.
