MBNA job cuts ‘could total 160’
The restructuring at MBNA in Chester could eventually lead to a total of about 160 jobs being lost. Its credit, customer assistance and marketing departments are currently in a collective consultation, a spokesman has confirmed.
Initially, the marketing department is being restructured, which will lead to job losses for full-time equivalent staff, but 46 new posts will be created for which staff can apply.
The spokesman said: “Following a detailed review of our operations, we have recently announced that we may see a reduction of around 160 full-time equivalent positions largely in three areas of our business in Chester - credit, customer assistance and marketing. We are currently consulting with associates in these three areas.
“We will be creating 46 new jobs as part of a restructured marketing division, and will welcome applications from those associates who may be impacted by these changes.”
MBNA services approximately six million customers with balances of £12bn from its Chester base.
