Lovell wins £1.25m housing contract
Lovell, the housing company based in Staffordshire, has been awarded a contract worth £1.25m to build the first stage of an affordable housing development in Worcestershire. The company has been hired by Spa Housing Association to begin the initial stages of development, which should be completed by June 2011.
The Homes and Communities Agency has invested £580,000 in the project, which is based in the village of Wychbold, near Droitwich.
Spa Housing, part of the Festival Housing Group, plans to redevelop the De Wyche Road site with a total of 29 new homes in two phases with Lovell.
The initial phase of the scheme will create eight two-bedroom houses and six two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent and low-cost home ownership.
The completed scheme will replace the 30 existing flats on the site.
Gwenda Cope, development manager at Festival Housing Group, said: “We are very pleased to have secured funding from and be working in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency.
"This development will make a significant difference to the local residents and wider community and we look forward to working with Lovell.”
