Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has appointed Frank Klaas as global head of communications. Klaas joins the Coventry-based car giant from General Motors Europe, where he was most recently general director of Opal Communications.

Klaas will assume global responsibility for communications and public affairs activities at JLR. He has more than 25 years’ experience in journalism and business communications including roles in Germany as a news and current affairs television presenter.

Klaas said: "I have a professional and personal passion for cars and the automotive industry so to be part of the future of these two iconic brands is an incredible opportunity."

He now reports directly to Jaguar Land Rover's chief executive officer Ralf Speth.

Last week, it was announced that JLR had made a pre-tax profit of £233.8m in the first quarter to 30 June 2010 by its parent company Tata motors.
