Hewitsons advises Canadian sale
Hewitsons, the Northampton-based law firm, has advised on the sale of Auriga Communications, supplier of computer systems. The company was purchased by Canadian business Trapeze.
Trapeze, which delivers IT solutions to the transport market, is run by its parent company Constellation Software, which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Peter Bell, managing director of Trapeze UK, said: “We are very excited by the acquisition of Auriga. It forms a key part of our strategy to expand our transport software offering in the UK beyond the bus and local authority market.
"Given the interaction of taxi operations with social and educational transport in the local authority market, this is an obvious next step for us.”
Harpenden-based Auriga Communications is the world’s leading supplier of computer systems to the taxi and private hire industry. It was sold to Trapeze by its parent company, Tait Electronics, which is based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Michael Ross, general manager of Auriga, said: "Auriga has always been very committed to providing sustainable, long-term value to our customers. We are thrilled to become part of Trapeze group and are excited by the potential the combination of our people and offerings could bring to our customers and the industry as a whole.”
