Brian James doubles factory size

A trailer manufacturer based in Daventry is doubling the size of its factory following investment from Yorkshire Bank. Brian James Trailers is building a 16,000 sq ft factory on land adjacent to its present site in Sopwith Way with plans to recruit a further ten employees.

The factory, on Drayton Fields Industrial Estate, is due to be completed in October. The company says it hopes to hire the new employees during 2011.

The funding for the new project was made through Yorkshire Bank’s "Investing for Growth" scheme.

Brandon James, managing director of Brian James Trailers, said the project was initially due to start when the land was purchased three years ago, but was delayed due to “the negative economic climate developing”.

Now the company is able to begin construction work, international trade with the business is continuing to boom,  James said.

“We are experiencing real growth in our export sales in both the UK and the main EC countries. The new development will mean we can continue meeting demand from customers across Europe," he said.

Following the funding deal, the company has also bought a machine tool. James said: “We have now confirmed an order for an additional laser profiler from Switzerland which will allow us meet the increased demands on our production system."
