Widdowson wins Boots contract
The Widdowson group, a logistics provider based in Leicester, has won two new contracts. It includes one with the Boots company, headquartered in Nottingham. Widdowson is to pack two Christmas gift ranges for Boots, which its operations manager Clarke Robinson described as “a huge achievement”.
He said: "We first approached the company several years ago and, at that time, we were unsuccessful.
“Since then, we’ve invested heavily to develop a professional contract packing facility. This facility has established a reputation for high quality product customisation supported by robust systems that ensure consistency.
"As a result we asked Boots to assess our suitability again and this time we’re delighted to have been given the go-ahead. It’s a tremendous reward for our hard work and we are looking forward to extending the relationship in the months ahead.”
The company has also won a contract with Pearson Shared Services for the palletised distribution of books.
The Rugby-based company is responsible for distribution, IT and customer services for both the Penguin UK and Pearson Education brands. It sends out over 110m books every year.
