Refurb at Fresenius following grant
Fresenius Medical Care, a provider of dialysis products and services, has refurbished its manufacturing site at Huthwaite in Nottinghamshire. It comes following a £100,000 Grant for Business Investment (GBI) from the East Midlands Development Agency (Emda).
The refurbishment was part of a £750,000 investment made by the company, which manufactures essential dialysis fluids used in the treatment of patients with kidney failure.
Trevor Nolan, director of finance at Fresenius Medical Care, said: “The refurbishment not only enables us to significantly increase the volume of dialysis fluids manufactured but also improves the working environment for our staff.
“We have improved supply chain efficiency and ensured the continuity of supply for dialysis fluids into the NHS for the foreseeable future.”
The company has now increased its production capacity and has automated several of its manual processes.
John O'Reilly, Emda’s business support director, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to help Fresenius Medical Care maintain its manufacturing facility in the East Midlands. This company is a major global player in renal healthcare, supplying a large number of NHS Health Care Trusts in the UK, as well as exporting to Europe.”
