East Midlands' businesses solid, says PMI

Share | |

Business conditions in the East Midlands “strengthened solidly” in July, according to a Purchasing Managers’ Index survey. The report said the region experienced the steepest expansion in orders for new business in three years last month.

The East Midlands also experienced the joint-fastest rise in employment across the UK.

For the 15th consecutive month, the East Midlands’ business activity levels also rose as the pace of inflation eased for the third month running.

New business rose at the sharpest pace in three years during July, with the rate of expansion in the East Midlands faster than the UK economy average. Respondents indicated that demand had strengthened from both new and existing clients over the month.

The PMI results, which are released on a monthly basis, are derived from surveying selected companies in the region.
