US fashion chain comes to Birmingham
American fashion chain Forever 21 has chosen Birmingham as the location for its first UK store. The business, which has stores throughout the US, Middle East and the Far East, has taken more than 50,000 sq ft of space at the Bullring shopping centre in the city centre.
Forever 21 will be taking over space on three levels at the shopping centre in units formerly occupied by Currys and Borders bookshop.
As well as being the first Forever 21 store in the UK, it will only be the second in Europe. The first is due to open in Dublin in November and will be 70,000 sq ft in size.
The company is currently fitting out the new store, which is due to open later this year.
The deal was brokered by Cushman & Wakefield’s retail team.
Cushman & Wakefield's retail partner Rob Alston, based in Birmingham, said: "The majority of new retailers to the UK initially look to open in London and cities such as Glasgow, Manchester generally follow. Therefore, their choice to open in Birmingham first does demonstrate how retailing in the city has improved considerably since the opening of the Bullring."
