Ideas wanted at LEP summit

Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce is urging firms in both counties to put their views forward on proposals to create a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) at a special business consultation summit later this month.

Following last week’s announcement that senior members of the city and county councils in both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire have formally agreed to the creation of a two-county LEP, the chamber is holding an event for businesses in the region to have their say on how it will be run.

The four authorities – the city councils in Nottingham and Derby, and Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire County Councils – officially signed an LEP bid on Friday.

Richard Wilkins, president of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber, said: “Now that we’ve got the political consensus to start work on creating a cross-county LEP, we need to garner as much support for the proposals as possible from the business sectors in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

“The event on 18 August will give business owners and representatives from both counties the opportunity to give their support and find out more about the LEP proposal and what this means for your business.”
