Potter's Poultry signs Oz deal
Potter's Poultry, a manufacturing company from Rugby, has signed an agreement with an Australian distributor. It is expected to lead to business worth up to £500,000 over the next 12 months.
The company produces specialist nesting houses and systems for free range and breeding birds.
Mike Button, sales export manager, said Australia’s poultry market bore similarities to the UK’s. He added that there was a market for Potter's Poultry’s products but needed to research it more closely.
The company was given financial support through the UK trade and investment’s export market research scheme (EMRS) which funded Button to spend ten days travelling from Perth to Brisbane last November, where he met with industry players.
He said: "We followed this up in May at an industry conference in Brisbane, where people were coming to see us, although nobody had heard of us six months previously. We have just finalised an agreement with an Australian distributor.
"It's very early days but we expect this to be worth up to £500,000 over the next 12 months, with excellent potential for the longer term."
Potter's Poultry has 70 employees and an annual turnover of approximately £5.5m. It also exports to the USA, mainland Europe and the Middle East.
