Profit increase is child's play at Games Workshop
Games Workshop Group, based in Nottingham, announced a pre-tax profit of £16.1m in its preliminary results out this morning.
The firm, which creates miniature fantasy figurines and games, increased its pre-tax profit by £8.6m when compared to its 2009 results.
The group's results concern the year ending 30 May 2010. It was also announced that revenue had reached £126.5m, an increase of £800,000 on last year.
Mark Wells, chief executive of Games Workshop, said: "We have a simple strategy at Games Workshop. We make the best fantasy miniatures and games in the world and sell them globally at a profit. This year we have improved Games Workshop's profitability and cash flow significantly. This has enabled us to repay our borrowings and recommend a dividend to our shareholders.
“Games Workshop is now a much leaner business which is preparing itself for many years of steady profitable growth.”
The firm also announced an operating profit of £16.1m, an increase on its 2009 result of £9m.
