Blacks' profits plunge
Blacks Leisure group has announced a drop in sales of £23m for the 17 weeks to the end of June when compared to the same period last year.
The Northampton-based group attributes the drop from £76.9m to £53.9m - which includes sales from discontinued activities and closed stores - “primarily as a result of the 107 stores closed in the restructuring programme last year”.
Like-for-like sales for the 17 week period were 7.5 per cent below last year, as revealed in the company’s trading update. The firm described the drop as “disappointing”.
