Bird Stevens tucks into fruit deal
Bird Stevens, the Quarry Bank-based metal manufacturing firm has won a £75,000 contract with soft fruit grower based in Herefordshire.
S&A produce awarded the contract to Bird Stevens after deciding to source their products on home soil, rather than abroad as they have traditionally done in the past.
The contract sees Bird Stevens manufacture over 250,000 special metal clamps together with 150 strawberry harvesting trolleys over a six-week period.
Steve Ruston, Managing Director of Bird Stevens said that the contract "will provide the sort of boost the Midlands manufacturing industry needs at the moment."
He added: "It also shows that when local businesses get together, they can help each other to succeed and generate local jobs.”
