Multi-million pound deal for Derby developer
Derby-based property developer Clowes Developments has placed a multi-million pound contract with Network Rail. The deal aims to provide a rail connection to its major 200-acre East Midlands distribution centre in Castle Donington.
The link will serve a new rail freight terminal to be constructed on the National Distribution Park allowing train access to serve a global market by way of the deep sea ports at Hull and Felixstowe as well as linking up with the pan-European rail network, giving multi-modal transport options.
Paul Shanley, director of Clowes, said: “Despite the recession and difficult economic times, we are investing in the future of this major distribution site. We have built up an excellent working relationship with Network Rail over the last year to enable this project to be realised.”
