The Arches gets new lease of life

A well-known industrial estate in Coventry is set to benefit from major redevelopment after being purchased for a seven-figure sum.

The Arches estate in Spon End, which is home to more than 20 businesses, has been purchased by property investor Tony Harris and will soon be subject to a clean-up programme and major refurbishment.

Harris, who is the director of Ipswich-based Christchurch Property Company, owns more than 100 investment properties across the UK.

The estate is about half a mile from the city centre and is well known for its diversity of businesses, including a snooker hall and a motor trader.

Harris says that with “a suitable level of investment”, he hopes to attract more customers as well as businesses for the vacant units.

He added: “I am very confident about the potential of the city and hope to be making more investments – in land, commercial property and offices – in the coming months. The Arches is just the latest in what I hope will be a long line of acquisitions.”
