Midlands' leading export firms revealed

Eight companies which are headquartered in the Midlands have made it onto the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 100 list.

The top performing company in the Midlands was Rea Valley Tractors, which reached number seven on the inaugural list, which ranked Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing international sales over the last two years of available accounts.

The Shropshire-based company, which supplies agricultural machines, had an international sales growth of 139.4 per cent over two years at the end of December 2008.

Other companies which made the list was engineer Brigham, B Hepworth, a windscreen wiper manufacturer and Challenge Power Transmission, which came in at 18th, 26th and 33rd on the list respectively.

Midsteel group, engineering specialist Manthorpe and MMD Mining Machinery made it to numbers 60, 77 and 83, whilst DCA Design International came in at number 93.

The eight companies featured on the list employ a total of 1,008 people. International sales between the firms have grown by an average of 81 per cent per year to a combined total of more than £89m.
