Paragon expands into Midlands
Paragon Education & Skills has acquired specialist childcare training provider Platinum Training & Development, allowing the company to expand into the Midlands.
Platinum, which is based in Dudley and has an office in Derby, employs 80 people and provides mainly childcare apprenticeships to young people across the Midlands.
The acquisition will allow Bournemouth-based Paragon to expand into the Midlands. The company offers apprenticeship courses in subjects including engineering, elderly and child care, financial services and hairdressing.
Gavin Freed, chief executive of Paragon, said that “both learners and employers throughout the Midlands and the south” would benefit from the acquisition. He added: “Platinum’s excellent reputation in the Early Years Care sector is a welcome and complementary addition to our continuing focus on high-quality skills training.”
Funding for the deal was provided by HSBC’s Corporate Banking team and private equity house Sovereign Capital.
