The firm’s fee income for the year was £117.8m, while profits per equity partner came in at £364,000. Managing partner Peter Crossley said the firm’s performance was “at the top end of expectations at the start of the year”.

Nick Green, head of the firm’s Birmingham office, added: "Despite the economic climate, the Birmingham office has performed strongly and we expect this to continue. We have completed a number of big ticket transactions and have continued to invest in core areas of the business through a number of partner and senior level lateral hires.”

Over the last year, Hammonds’ Birmingham office has recruited three partners and promoted another three to the partnership as well as recruiting four senior lawyers.
