Midlands transport schemes left in limbo

Share | |

The extension to the Midland Metro Line 1 is just one of the 62 transport schemes on hold pending the outcome of the government’s spending review. The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced that schemes prioritised under the Regional Funding Allocation process, but on which contracts have yet to be signed, were under review. The proposed improvements to Nottingham Ring Road and the creation of Mansfield’s Public Interchange Transport Scheme are also left in limbo after the announcement. A total of ten schemes in the Midlands were named in a written statement from the DfT which said that councils should consider carefully whether investing further time and resources in such schemes is justified.
