Who?
Derby rail consultancy Interfleet Technology
Did what?
Has expanded its European operations and service offering with the acquisition of Die Ingenieurwerkstatt (DI).
What does this mean?
The German company, based in Wiesbaden and founded in 1996, employs 30 people and offers safety engineering, maintenance optimisation and railway asset management. Interfleet’s managing director David Rollin commented: “The acquisition represents an opportunity for Interfleet to enhance its service offering by bringing new and complementary skills and experience.”
Insider comment:
DI has built up an impressive reputation in central Europe in recent years, despite its relatively small size, and Interfleet believes the deal will open up these markets. The Midlands business has already opened offices in India and South America so far in 2010 to add to a global footprint that encompasses Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US.
Christian Trescher from DI said the deal will enable the company’s staff to work on projects around the world, offering exciting opportunities, a wider client network and greater resources.
