Changan could prove catalyst for science park relocations
The news that Changan is moving into No. 1 Nottingham Science Park could lead to a string of other high-tech names moving to the Blueprint development. Changan, one of China’s leading car manufacturers, is establishing its UK Research and Development Centre in Nottingham, and is working closely with Nottingham firm Romax, which has been widely rumoured to be looking to move into No.1 for some time now. Meanwhile, further details have emerged regarding Changan’s move into the science park; it is believed that the company will take an initial 5,271 sq ft at No.1, and has first right of refusal on an extra 2,5000 sq ft, which it says it hopes to expand into within six months. Changan has also said it may need to build a further facility on the development land adjacent to Nottingham Science Park. Blueprint hopes to sign the agreed lease by the end of this week, with Changan moving in on 28 June.
