Midlands developers on shortlist for 4,500 homes project

Share | |

Two Midlands developers have been shortlisted to build 4,500 new homes in Hampshire, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has revealed. St Modwen and Argent, along with and Taylor Wimpey, are in the race to redevelop the 148-ha Aldershot Urban Extension (AUE) site. The project will regenerate the surplus military land at Aldershot Garrison to create a mixed-use residential scheme of 4,500 homes, community facilities, schools, local centres and leisure facilities. The AUE is one of the largest brownfield sites in the south east of England, and the HCA said it hoped to choose a development partner by the end of the year, with work starting in 2012.
