LPC sold to Italian tissue giant
LPC, the Leicester-based manufacturer of disposable paper products, is to be sold to Italian tissue manufacturer Sofidel. LPC, which is owned by the Tejani family, is the largest disposable paper maker in the UK, with a turnover of £236m in the year ending September and employing approximately 1,120 people. Sofidel generated sales of more than €1bn in 2009 and currently employs approximately 3,200 people. The deal will create Europe’s second-largest tissue producer with a combined turnover of €1.3bn per annum.
