Housing boost for Leicester
A cash injection of nearly £3m has been confirmed by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) – the national housing and regeneration agency – to help develop two housing sites in Leicester that were recently sold by the city council for £1. The East Midlands Housing Association will receive £1.9m to develop 42 affordable homes on land north of Manor Farm in Hamilton, and £1m will be provided to Nottingham Community Housing Association to build 21 affordable homes at Bendbow Rise in Braunstone. The city council released the land to the housing associations last year at a nominal cost in an effort to bring forward more affordable homes and jobs, retaining approximately 70 per cent of both of the wider sites for private development in the near future.
