Morrisons eyes Edgbaston Galleries
Supermarket chain Morrisons has submitted a planning application to develop a foodstore and new district centre at Calthorpe Estates’ Edgbaston Galleries scheme at Five Ways, Birmingham. The application is for a mixed-use scheme of 62,797 sq ft and includes a supermarket of 51,807 sq ft, a number of independent retail units and office space. Access to the store would be gained from Harborne Road and Hagley Road, where a new filter lane is proposed. Richard Allen, chief executive of Calthorpe Estates, said: “Morrisons will deliver an outstanding mixed-use scheme and will create much needed jobs within the current economic climate.”
