Bassi obtains Asha franchise rights

Share | |
Entrepreneur Paul Bassi has obtained the UK master franchise rights to the Birmingham-based Indian restaurant and bar Asha. They were transferred to Bassi's Brandasia Holdings after former owner Regent Inns went into administration. The Newhall Street eatery was originally established by Indian singing star Asha Bhosle. Plans have been mooted to open franchises in London and Manchester, with ambitions to open a further ten franchise restaurants over the next five years. Bassi signed the contracts with Bhosle and her son Anand, who is involved in the business side of the franchise. Asha's Birmingham restaurant was opened to critical acclaim two years ago following a £1.2m fit-out and recently hosted the cast of Slumdog Millionaire.
