Large Lincoln factory changes hands

Share | |
Allied Bakeries has taken over the lease of one of Lincoln's landmark buildings. The 54,000 sq ft building, occupying a 2-acre site at the corner of Doddington Road and Exchange Road, was originally built by the Simons Construction Group in the 1980s. For more than 25 years, it was home to Smiths Crisps, which later merged into Walkers Crisps. Hodgson Elkington, the Lincoln-based chartered surveyors, acted on the lease. Daniel Race, Hodgson Elkington partner, said: "This is one of Lincoln's largest warehouse buildings. We have been working with Allied Bakeries and the parent company, Associated British Foods, on the deal for some time. It is good to see that works will shortly be commencing and that the building will then be reoccupied". There will be a £500,000 refurbishment of the building before Allied Bakeries moves in.
