City Spirit St Paul’s lobbies on empty rates

Share | |
A Birmingham serviced-office provider is campaigning to retain the £15,000 Rateable Value (RV) threshold on empty property rates. Anne Corstorphine, managing director of City Spirit St Paul's and board member of the Business Centre Association (BCA), took part in a lobbying reception at the House of Commons last week. The BCA is trying to encourage cross-party MPs to retain the threshold. It argues that a change to the £15,000 amount in the Chancellor's pre-budget report would threaten the survival of many small businesses. Corstorphine said: "The BCA has lobbied against the change to the empty property rates legislation since its introduction in 2008."
