Birmingham home to first GP merger
The Laurie Pike Medical Centre and the Handsworth Wood Medical Centre have merged to form a Super Partnership – a general practice formed through the integration of two practices that will operate within the boundaries of a single primary care trust. The Super Partnership, based in Birmingham and known as Vitality, is owned controlled and run by a corporate-style board of GP equity partners, with the support of a business development manager. The partnership will operate from premises in the Aston and Handsworth Wood areas of Birmingham, serving 13,000 patients in each centre. Law firm Weightmans advised on the deal.
