Graham hailed for £19m port deal
A County Down construction company has been praised by the Northern Ireland Executive for winning a £19m contract to design and build a port in England.
Enterprise minister Arlene Foster congratulated John Graham Dromore (Graham) on winning the contract for a roll-on/roll-off terminal used for the import and export of cars.
It will involve building two jetties, a floating pontoon and a bridge at the Port of Grimsby. Work is due to start later this month (February) and is scheduled for completion in March 2013
"It is encouraging to see companies in the construction sector such as John Graham Dromore striving ahead by looking for opportunities and doing business outside Northern Ireland," said Foster.
Recent projects completed by the company include the Peace Bridge in Londonderry,
"Graham's expertise in marine engineering has undoubtedly helped the company win this prestigious contract," added the minister.
Northern Ireland's Executive recently announced plans to boost the construction sector by funding several capital projects in a bid to create more than 2,500 jobs.
