Yorkshire's tallest building, Bridgewater Place, added to its tally of awards by carrying off the grand prix award at this year's Insider Yorkshire Renaissance Awards. The building, which only opened in May, also won in the Creative Land category, for projects that have turned around a difficult parcel of land. The award for Design Excellence went to Frenchgate Interchange in Doncaster, which the judges felt had transformed a dismal transport interchange into a sparkling new shopping centre and proved that Leeds, Sheffield and Hull did not hog the limelight when it came to urban regeneration in Yorkshire. Leeds' New Bewerley Community School won the Community Project award, while the Restoration award went to Wentworth Castle and Gayle Mill in Wensleydale won the Rural Renaissance award. The award for Town Team, recognising groups of people who have come together to bring changes to their town, went to the Scarborough town team.
