Insider Yorkshire Growth 100 Awards 2010
Allam Marine and Callcredit Information Group were the big winners at Insider’s Growth 100 Awards.
The event, held at the Thorpe Park Hotel, Leeds, honoured the 100 fastest growing companies in Yorkshire, sourced from Insider’s exclusive annual research.
Allam Marine, the Hull-based manufacturer and supplier of industrial and marine generator sets, won the Overseas Award and also the overall Gold Medal Award.
Operations director Ehab Allam said: "The key to our success is that we are unique in our sector. We are the only company doing what we do."
Credit reference business Callcredit, based in Leeds, was also a double winner. It collected the Growth 100 Award for the fastest growing company in Insiders’ Growth 100 research, with annual growth of 168 per cent over the sampled period.
In addition, its chief executive John McAndrew won the award for Business Leadership.
The Rising Star Award, for an up-and-coming business, was won by Leeds-based Rosemont Pharmaceuticals, which develops, manufactures and supplies liquid medicines for patients who have difficulty swallowing solid medications or those who need a precise measured dose not available in a solid tablet.
The Innovation Award was won by Harrogate-based egg manufacturer Chippindale Foods. The company specialises in developing bespoke packaging for different brands of free range eggs also uses social media in order to engage with consumers and encourage brand loyalty.
The guest speaker at the awards was Andrew Cope, chief executive of Leeds car hire business Zenith Provecta. "In a recession a bad business becomes a worse business," he told the audience. "If you don’t get the cashflow sorted out you have got a real problem."
The Growth 100 Awards were sponsored by Clarion, Heath Lambert, Robertson Baxter, Santander Corporate Banking and the University of Hull Business School.
