South Yorkshire Property Gala Dinner 2008
Over 300 property professionals from the South Yorkshire region gathered in the Hotel Mercure St Paul’s in Sheffield City Centre on 3 July to celebrate all that’s best in property development in the region. The guests at the dinner, compèred by TV property show presenter Sunita Shroff, were entertained by comedian John Bishop, and also saw Mel Burrell, managing director of St Paul’s Developments, crowned South Yorkshire Property Personality of the Year.
Burrell founded his company in 1990 after a career in local government. Having initially gained great kudos with the regeneration of Cortonwood Colliery, the company has gone on to develop over 500 acres of business parks across the country, including many along the M1 corridor near its Barnsley headquarters. Guests at the event managed to raise around £4,000 for Cash for Kids, the new name for local children’s charity Help a Hallam Child.
