Made in Sheffield has been synonymous with quality of production since Robert the Cutler first filed his tax return in 1297. Sheffield has been at the forefront of UK manufacturing for hundreds of years and today the industry sector is a diverse mix or private and public companies with an internationally-renowned quality culture which gives the Sheffield city region a unique brand and cluster of industrial expertise. The Made in Sheffield Mark initiative is run by manufacturers for manufacturers and has taken on the role of developing the Brand of Made in Sheffield to benefit the whole of the Sheffield city region. In doing so it seeks to position the region as the first choice location for industrial design and manufacture in Europe.
The Made In Sheffield Awards are a celebration of both manufacturers and manufacturing in the Sheffield city region. The awards will be made at a gala dinner in the Cutlers Hall on Thursday 24th March 2011. The awards will be judged by a panel of manufacturers and represent regional recognition for all that Made In Sheffield embodies.
The Made in Sheffield Mark Initiative has over 150 Companies licensed to use the mark in sectors as diverse as steel and sweets, aerospace and mining, surgical products and safety lamps.

This award is for the company or individual that has, through intellectual property originated within the Sheffield city region, generated a substantial commercial benefit from a innovative product or process designed and manufactured in the region.
Exporter of the Year:

This award is for the company deemed by the judges to be the most prolific exporter, in terms of both international presence and percentage of total sales, of products Made in the Sheffield city region.
Investment in People:

This award is for the company, within the Sheffield city region, deemed by the judges to have made the greatest commitment to the development of its staff.
Manufacturer Support:

This award is for the company or organisation deemed by the judges to have contributed most to the support of manufacturing within the Sheffield city region.
Apprentice of the Year:

This award is for the individual, engaged in a formal apprentice programme, that the judges deem has shown the greatest achievement, contribution to his employer and potential during their apprenticeship.

This award is for the company or individual, as deemed by the judges, to have contributed most to maintaining the national and international renown of the Made in Sheffield Brand for high quality craftsmanship so synonymous with the Sheffield city region.
