Liverpool - An International City
Introduction from:
Liverpool has done well to be front-page news for the right reasons. Capital of Culture drove tourism numbers sky high, the development and regeneration of the city centre has won plaudits across the UK, and World Expo in Shanghai created a much-needed platform to promote Liverpool to the world.
But what matters now is making those headlines stick and creating long-term growth and prosperity in a city that has historically fallen below par compared with other urban centres in the UK.
This debate will bring together leading minds from the public and private sector to explore the future direction of the city around its maritime and biotech assets, as well as the knowledge and visitor economy and maximising inward investment from overseas.
It will also draw on Liverpool's recent success at winning money from the Regional Growth Fund and a high-profile report on the city, written by Conservative politician Lord Heseltine and former Tesco chief Sir Terry Leahy, to answer some key questions including:
What is the next big thing for Liverpool? How can Liverpool compete for international inward investment? What role can the Local Enterprise Partnership play in Liverpool's future? How should the public and private sector work together to achieve lasting success?
WHY ATTEND?Meet other businesses looking to expand and develop in the region and learn from a panel of experts who will outline the city and Merseyside's full potential.
This event will create an opportunity for businesses to engage, interact and understand the way forward.
