The Insider Property Awards West Midlands 2008 proved to be a great night for GVA Grimley's Birmingham office, which picked up the Office Agent of the Year award at a glittering ceremony at the Hilton Metropole.
GVA's Malcolm Gloster backed this up by taking the Personality of the Year prize, while the company was also shortlisted in the Industrial Agent of the Year category.
Eight hundred West Midlands property professionals packed into the Metropole to join the BBC's John Inverdale to raise money for the Wellchild charity.
It was also a good night for DTZ, which towered over its rivals this year and secured the Office Agent of the Year award, while Martineau finally made the breakthrough it’s been threatening to for the last few years by taking the Law Firm of the Year trophy.
But what was perhaps most noticeable from the evening was how the West Midlands showed its strength in depth.
This wasn’t all about Birmingham - Walsall Regeneration won the Regeneration Project of the Year award with Transforming Telford shortlisted, while Coventry City scooped the Inward Investment prize, with InStaffs on the shortlist.
Such widespread expertise augers well for the West Midlands commercial property sector as it approaches its most difficult period for years.
