Insider Dealmakers Awards Yorkshire 2007
Martin Jenkins of Deliotte returned to win Dealmaker of the Year at the Yorkshire 2007 Insider Dealmaker Awards, which for the first time was held in the newly opened Saviles Hall at the Royal Armouries. Jenkins won the prestigious award three years in a row up until 2004, but was pipped at the post by Ian Marwood at Grant Thornton in 2005 and by Garry Wilson of Endless in 2006. In a particularly hotly contested category, the award for Deal of the Year went to the sale of Leeds-Bradford Airport, despite Keepmoat’s MBO – another contender in the shortlist – dwarfing it in value. The event also saw the newly created Roger Powell Memorial Award, created in memory of the late Royal Bank of Scoltand dealmaker, go to Ian Greenfield, who had just stood down as managing partner of Hammonds’ Leeds office. The 900-strong audience were richly entertained by compere Gyles Brandreth, who missed no opportunity to joke with both prize winners and sponsors.
