Wales Business Insider Breakfast – Trading Abroad

This Wales Business Insider breakfast debate will focus on the techniques, advantages and pitfalls of trading abroad.

The debate will give practical advice for companies considering trading abroad, hoping to trade more overseas, or improve their trading methods.

It comes at an ideal time. With the pound still relatively weak and some overseas economies showing strong signs of growth, these are good times for exporters. At the same time, companies can gain advantage by sourcing components and services from abroad.

But trading abroad is notoriously tricky. Languages, business cultures and legal systems vary between and even within states. And since the demise of International Business Wales, some companies have found it hard to know where to go for advice.

A panel of exporters and experts will provide advice in response to audience questions, and debate ways in which Wales can maximise its trading potential.

Panelists Include

  • Byron Davies, chairman, Wales International Business Council
  • Graham Morgan, director, South Wales Chamber of Commerce
  • Richard Cobourne, director, On Screen Productions
  • Paul Lowe, partner, Eversheds
  • Possible topics for discussion include:

  • What are the best export markets to go for?
  • How do I minimise the risks of trading abroad?
  • How much presence do you need in overseas markets?
  • Does Wales do enough to help and advise exporters?
  • Coverage of the event will appear in the November edition of Wales Business Insider.
