It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the Bridgwater Economic Forum, a key networking event designed to bring together the key business and political stakeholders and opinion formers to consider the future challenges and opportunities within Bridgwater.
The big issue is of course nuclear, and the role this sector will play in the future of Bridgwater and the wider economy, although we'll also be looking to examine other sectors important to Bridgwater, such as plastics, engine parts, chemicals and food. What are the major opportunities and challenges on the horizon for Bridgwater?
Insider will assemble a panel of experts to analyse the following themes - what are the key investment and development schemes currently on the table and how do they measure up? How are key stakeholders like the college adapting to life after the downturn and what's being done to address the skills gap? What are Bridgwater's strong points and weaknesses, and how can it put itself in a healthier economic position?
Panellists to date include:
- Denys Rayner, chief executive, Pardoes
- Doug Bamsey, corporate director of regeneration, Sedgemoor District Council
- David Eccles, head of the bridgwater office, EDF Energy
- Mike Robbins, vice principal and principal designate, bridgwater college
- Craig Allen, construction manager, BAM Construction Ltd
