Insider Breakfast Developing Bristol: What next for Nelson Street?
Next month Insider's economic debate road show revisits Bristol's commercial property market and shines a spotlight on the neglected Nelson Street area.
Right in the heart of the region's leading city, and now the site of the largest permanent street graffiti project in Europe following the summer's 'See No Evil' event, the area has nevertheless been overlooked for meaningful investment by developers and is populated in the main by 1960s tower blocks and run-down older buildings.
With its proximity to Broadmead, Cabot Circus and Harbourside, which have been changed so much by recent investments, the area's untapped potential is obvious, but so is the scale of the challenge.
Our session will kick off with a 15-minute presentation outlining some masterplan ideas from the architects Stride Treglown. This will be followed by a panel session which will give our invited business audience a chance to engage with and hear from some of the city's property professionals and others with a stake in Nelson Street and Bristol.
Issues like public and private sector engagement, planning and ownership issues and finance are sure to get an airing, and there is sure to be plenty of talk about and reaction to Stride's speculative masterplan.
