The climate of higher education is changing. Heavy reductions in public funding mean institutions will now charge higher fees for their services; they will also look at other ways of driving revenue onto the books.
At the same time businesses across the region are witnessing the decline of traditional areas of support - the death of regional development agencies, and the decline of Business Link, has left many small companies seeking new forms of advice.
As a result, Insider has launched it's first Business of Education conference, which will be held in conjunction with universities across the North West. The event will explore how you can grow your business with the help of academia.
Universities will be able to outline and debate the services they have on offer and state their priorities for the road ahead. Companies will be given the chance to give their experiences of working with universities and outline what to expect.
It will be an opportunity to understand what each sides needs to be successful and open up the debate on business-university engagement in the new era.
